Probably the tiniest vase of the series. Cautiously dipping my toe in the realm of decorating. I love a strong colour block so that usually wins for me but these crayons are so playful I like how it can contrast a clean shape.

VASE 13/100

As you may have noticed I am working on a series of one hundred unique vases. My plan is to show them all together in an expo setup once they are all finished. The how and where of this plan is yet unknown so I will keep you updated on that matter as I would love to see you there!

With the 100 vases project I create space for myself to develop my practical skills, for instance creating larger and more closed shapes, as well as other type of skills such as to shake things up creatively. I am trained as a designer and have always learned to test and try, polish and perfect, my way towards one certain end design. Many ideas such as this six armed vase (reminding me of some type of cute six armed monster) would normally have been dismissed almost as soon as they pop into my head. In this project however I would like to create a larger diversity and am embrasing the quirky and humorous.

This 100 vase project I started is fun but daunting at times as well, there is still so many to go 😅. And due to a combination of things going on privately I haven’t spend nearly as much time in the studio as I had wanted to lately. To keep things light and enjoyable I have allowed myself a tiny project on the side of the vase project. You may be wondering how adding work could be helpful but well it does. Quick and satisfying result for me, a way for you to enjoy a tiny version of the vases as well as support me on my way to 100. Coming soon: tiny vase magnets.

I don’t even dare counting the years I am no longer a student, yet September still is the start of my new year. Who is with me? 🙌😅
After a tumultuous summer, with a mayor low and aa well as many enjoyable moments with friends and family, it is time to get things started again.

One project I will be working on is a goal I set myself: to make a series of one hundred unique vases. (Yep, 100. Did I go mad?) I am not in a hurry though and will work on the project alongside other tasks such as production.

It is a project to give attention to further developing my wheel-throwing skills; to elaborately explore my own form language; as well as to ask questions about craft and the value of handmade objects, because it seems I have many.

Well wish me luck because my skills in throwing BIG are unfortunately practically non existent as for now. And the idea is not that all the vases will be as small as those shown here, a couple of mini vases from 2021..

De glazuur op de kan is gevlekt, het mokje is niet mooi rond, de borden zijn toch wat te zwaar uitgevallen. Kom je even neuzen of er wat voor je bij zit? Ik doe alles weg voor een klein prijsje.
